Nottingham

Nottingham is a city in the East Midlands of England, widely associated with the legend of Robin Hood. It developed around a medieval settlement overlooked by Nottingham Castle and later became an important centre for lace-making, textiles, bicycles and manufacturing. The city’s historic attractions include the castle, the medieval streets surrounding the Lace Market and a network of sandstone caves beneath the centre. Nottingham is also a major educational centre, home to the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. Its cultural life includes theatres, music venues, museums and sporting institutions such as Nottingham Forest Football Club and Trent Bridge cricket ground.
