Heywood is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, located between Manchester, Bury and Rochdale. Originally established as a mill town during the Industrial Revolution, it has developed into a well-connected centre for business, logistics and manufacturing, with excellent access to the M62 motorway. The town is also home to the East Lancashire Railway, where heritage steam and diesel trains operate between Heywood, Bury and Rawtenstall. Combining its industrial heritage with modern commercial development, Heywood remains an important town within Greater Manchester.
