Manchester Art Gallery is a major public art museum in Manchester city centre, housed in a Grade I-listed building designed by Sir Charles Barry. Opened in 1835, the gallery holds an extensive collection of fine art, decorative arts and design, including notable Pre-Raphaelite paintings and works by British and international artists. Alongside its permanent collections, the gallery hosts temporary exhibitions, educational programmes and cultural events throughout the year. Its historic galleries and contemporary exhibition spaces also provide a setting for corporate receptions, private functions and special events.
