Portrait photo of Carl Sukonik

I’m Carl Sukonik, the photographer behind The Vain. Based in Manchester and working throughout the UK, I photograph PR, corporate and event work for brands, agencies, venues and organisers who need strong coverage without unnecessary fuss.

Experienced Event Coverage Without the Drama

A lot of event photography is not just about taking good pictures. It is about judgement, timing, awareness and understanding what a client actually needs from the job. That might mean press-ready images, strong social content, a clear record of the event, or simply knowing how to move through the day without getting in the way of it.

I’ve been working as a photographer for over 25 years, covering press nights, brand launches, conferences, award ceremonies, festivals and corporate events. My approach is natural, observant and unobtrusive. I am there to do the job properly, spot what matters, and deliver images that feel polished and useful rather than forced.

Clients do not need to walk me through every moment or explain how events work. I understand the pace of live environments, the importance of key people and brand moments, and how to produce coverage that works across PR, editorial, marketing and social.

What Clients Actually Need

Most clients are not looking for photography for the sake of it. They need someone reliable who can turn up, read the room, work with confidence and come back with a set of images that genuinely serves a purpose. That could be media coverage, brand visibility, guest experience, stakeholder reporting or content for future promotion.

That is the part of the job I understand best. The aim is always to make the process easy and the final images useful.

Based in Manchester. Working Throughout the UK

Although I’m based in Manchester, I regularly work across the UK in all kinds of venues and environments, from city-centre launches and hospitality events to conferences, ceremonies and large-scale live events.

A Straightforward Approach

I keep things simple. Good communication, solid preparation, calm coverage on the day, and a strong final edit afterwards. No overcomplicating it, no making myself the centre of attention, and no need for constant direction.

If you need a photographer who understands how events and pr work and can quietly get on with the job, get in touch.
